Around twenty companies from the Canary Islands are attending Navalia, the third most important event in southern Europe
From the 21st to the 23rd of May, a public and private delegation from the Canary Islands will be in Vigo for the Navalia fair, the premier naval sector fair in northern Spain, which has, after seven editions, become the leading national event and the third largest in southern Europe.
Navalia offers the public and private sectors of the Canary Islands, and particularly the companies, an opportunity to showcase themselves and establish contacts and synergies with other delegations and companies attending this biennial event. Vigo, one of the leading cities in the Spanish naval sector due to its numerous shipyards and its experienced and comprehensive auxiliary industry, represents an excellent opportunity for the external promotion of Canary Islands companies and institutions. It also provides an opportunity for other participants to understand the benefits of working with the Canary Islands.
This international gathering of maritime companies is expected to see participation from 400 exhibitors and 900 represented brands.
Navalia Meeting 2023
Last year, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria hosted the Navalia Meeting congress with great success. Six round tables, more than 30 prominent speakers, and around 300 professionals from leading national companies attended the event, surpassing all expectations set by the organisers.
Over three days, markets such as Oil & Repair, the military industry, and offshore wind had dedicated spaces for debate. Key figures from companies like Navantia, Astican, Zamakona, Ghenova, and Naturgy participated, along with institutions such as the Spanish Navy, the Spanish Maritime Institute, and the Government of the Canary Islands.
Key facts:
Situated 100 km from the African coast and more than 1,000 km from the Iberian Peninsula, the Canary Islands host the principal provisioning and repair station in the Mid-Atlantic. They are ranked third for hydrocarbon logistics distribution. The islands have an extensive network of commercial, fishing, and recreational ports, and they maintain maritime links with over 20 countries and 500 ports across Africa. The region is equipped with numerous container and roll-on/roll-off terminals. Additionally, the Canary Islands are home to the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN), which offers affordable services and facilities to tackle future challenges in oceanic science and socio-economic needs.
