During the renowned Animayo festival and the prestigious Quirino Awards in Canarias, two visits were organized to highlight the advantages of the Canary Islands ecosystem for the animation industry

Proexca organized two visits last week in the Canary Islands to showcase Canarias as a prime production destination to producers and animation studios from Denmark and the United Kingdom, within the framework of Animayo and the Quirino Awards held in the archipelago.

Animayo, now in its 19th edition in Gran Canaria, stands as the most significant international gathering in the animation realm. It holds the distinction of being the only event qualifying in the pre-selection of the Oscars in two categories: international animated short films and animated works in Spanish.

Moreover, B2B sessions were conducted, fostering synergies and connections between local and international entities.

Simultaneously, at the Quirino Awards in Tenerife, invited animation studios hail from the United Kingdom. With 247 entries from 15 different countries in this edition, the awards for the Ibero-American audiovisual industry present a significant opportunity for local and international entities.

These initiatives are aligned with the Governments’ strategy to bolster strategic sectors in the islands, particularly the Audiovisual sector, driving towards a more sustainable and competitive economy while nurturing talent development and creating new employment opportunities.
