The Canary Islands have excellent relationships with the neighboring African countries and have signed different agreements with Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal and Cape Verde

The Canary Islands are supported by the EU in order to create a common economic development area with the neighboring African countries. To this effect, European Neighboring and Territorial Cooperation Programs have been carried out between 2007-2013, and then renewed, doubling investment, for the period 2014-2020.
