Angelina Jolie films "The Eternal" in the Canary Islands

Located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, the abundant and volcanic Islands have it all, from virgin beaches to lush ancient forests. You can recreate impressive other-worldly landscapes or seabeds, all in a just few square kilometres

Marvel Studios, a Disney production company, has chosen the Canary Islands, namely the island of Fuerteventura, to shoot “The Eternal”, starring Angelina Jolie (Thena), Salma Hayek (Ajak) and directed by Chloé Zhao. This will be Europe´s biggest film production in 2019

Angelina Jolie´s presence in Fuerteventura to shoot The Eternal has echoed around the world, strengthening the Canary Islands international position as a natural film set.

The Canary Islands have ample experience in movie productions. In recent years, over twenty films have been shot here, including Wonder Woman, 1984, Han Solo from the Star Wars franchise, Exodus, Jason Bourne, Fast & Fourious 6, and Allied to name just a few. What´s more, every year the Canary Islands are home to hundreds of TV commercial productions for many international brands.

'The Eternal' is the start of something new for Marvel after the Avengers saga concluded with the box-office hit “Endgame”, that followed movies like The Adventures of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, the Black Widow, and Hawkeye.

As you know, over the last few years the Canary Islands have become a sure bet for the movie production industry. Many well-known directors (Robert Zemeckis, Ron Howard and Louis Leterrier…) and producers have chosen the Canary Islands for their film shoots (Fast & Furious 6, Han Solo Star Wars, Black Mirror…).

There are many reasons to film and produce in the Canary Islands. The climate is great and has over 4,800 daylight hours per year, the Islands can offer a wide range of wonderful landscapes and hundreds of highly qualified experts and, above all, the Canary Islands have wide range of tax incentives which are the most competitive in Europe.
